About the Petition:

An incredible legal assault is taking place on the sanctity of marriage in America. In numerous states, marriage laws are being attacked by federal judges--many of whom are ignoring the majority of citizens who want marriage defined as the union between “one man and one woman.”

Such attacks on the state level are a clear indication that no state marriage amendment or law is secure – even deep in the Heartland of America!

Grassfire believes only a Marriage Protection Amendment to the U.S. Constitution will effectively defend marriage from the onslaught of these tyrannical courts!

The message from the courts is clear, and now grassroots Americans must respond by sending a strong message to our lawmakers on Capitol Hill …

For nearly three years, Grassfire has been at the forefront of the Marriage debate, raising public awareness, and mobilizing hundreds of thousands of citizens who are eager to protect marriage and the family in America.

The Petition States:

Our laws should send a positive message to our kids about marriage and family. It is only common sense that marriage is between a man and a woman. As a concerned citizen, I am deeply troubled by the effort under way to redefine marriage for our entire society.

In order to save marriage, I urge our leaders in Congress to move quickly to pass the Federal Marriage Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. In addition, when the Federal Marriage Amendment passes Congress, I urge my state leaders to move quickly to ratify the Amendment.
