Grassroots Alliance To Announce
Pledge Case Supreme Court Filing
WASHINGTON,
D.C. October 28 /U.S. Newswire/ -- A news conference to be held Wednesday,
October 29, at 11a.m. at the United States Supreme Court will announce what may
be the largest grassroots alliance ever to form behind a Court amicus brief.
The brief, to
be filed by Common Good Legal Defense Fund on behalf of Grassfire and partner
organizations, is unique because tens of thousands of citizens will be invited
to co-sign the brief. “We expect thousands upon thousands of citizens to
formally add their name to the brief,” says Steve Elliott, President of
Grassfire.
The brief
announcement – which comes as Grassfire is delivering more than 500,000 citizen
petitions supporting the Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S. Supreme Court – is
part of an extensive grassroots effort to give citizens a voice in the Pledge
case. A grassroots letter-writing campaign and a national newspaper ad campaign
(see link below) will also be discussed at the news conference.
