HOUSE DEMOCRATIC LEADER PELOSI DRAWS CITIZEN FIRE FOR ANTI-BUSH SENTIMENTS
Pelosi’s Blatant Display of Partisan Hatred Mobilizes
Conservative Activists
Washington, DC – Reacting to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA)
public anti-Bush comments on May 20, Grassfire.org, an online conservative
issues advocacy organization, directed tens of thousands of citizen supporters
to contact Pelosi via phone, email, fax demanding she retract and apologize both
to the President and to the American people she represents.
In calling Bush an “incompetent leader,” who lacked the judgment and knowledge
to make proper decisions--ultimately putting American lives at risk, Pelosi
triggered outrage among Republicans who demanded she retract her statements. She
refused saying the time had come to speak frankly about the lack of leadership
in the White House.
"We are frankly appalled that an elected official could so disrespect the office
of the President. Pelosi and other key liberals are determined to undermine
President Bush with no thought given to how their comments and activities
undermine the morale of our men and women in uniform," said Steve Elliott,
president of Grassfire.org. "Through our actions, we want to let Ms. Pelosi know
that she doesn't speak for the majority of Americans who do support our
President and the troops."
Over the next several days, Grassfire anticipates tens of thousands of calls to
Pelosi's office from citizens who are outraged by her comments and who want her
to make a public apology to President Bush and America.
"We understand this is the election year, and both parties are looking to unseat
the other," said Elliott. "But her comments are so far out of line that we
needed to take immediate action."
