More Than 365,000 Petitions In Support Of Scouts Delivered To San Fran. Bar AssociationGrassfire’s effort shows public opinion stands in opposition to Bar Association’s policy draft discriminating against the Boy Scouts.SAN FRANCISCO, CA. — Today, Grassfire, of the nation’s leading online grassroots citizen activist organizations delivered more than 365,000 petitions to the Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF), on behalf of citizens who support of the Scouts. These petitions stand in clear contrast to the recent policy implemented by the BASF that encourages discrimination against the Boy Scouts by banning members from participating with the Scouts. According to published reports, the BASF drafted a policy that was then agreed upon by the Superior Court of San Francisco that would bar judges from participating as members in the Boy Scouts of America because of their stance on homosexuality. Despite a ruling by the Supreme Court that gave Scouts the authority to set its own standards of leadership, the BASF intimidated the court into adopting this policy, and continues efforts for widespread adoption of this policy. Although not affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America in
any way, Grassfire has nevertheless been tirelessly committed to promoting them
through our national “Shame on the San Francisco Bar Association,” says Steve Elliott, President of Grassfire. “The BASF has given no consideration to the U.S. Constitution or the U.S. Supreme Court in encouraging its members and other organizations to blatantly discriminate against the Scouts and even ban members from participating with the Scouts.” By utilizing the full power of the Internet, Grassfire is giving real impact, real feedback and real results to hundreds of thousands of people across the nation and around the world. |
