RELEASE:
Chesapeake, VA –A grassroots citizen petition calling on President Bush to pardon imprisoned U.S. Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean has just exceeded 300,000 signers in time for a petition delivery today in our nation’s capital. “Thousands of citizens have joined this petition drive since the news broke of the assault against Agent Compean,” says Steve Elliott, President of Grassfire.org. “These citizens are sending a strong message to President Bush: ‘Pardon these agents!’” Grassfire will be presenting the petitions to Rep. Dana Rohrabacher’s office for delivery to the White House. Grassfire also continues to monitor the fast-changing situation involving the assault against Ramos. For updates, including Monica Ramos’ personal blog, go to FireSociety.com (http://www.firesociety.com/article/10219).
