Maxwell, IA-- Grassfire.org is reporting that, since the announcement of the Bush-Kennedy amnesty plan 12 days ago, Grassfire team members have generated over 489,000 citizen petitions and faxes -- along with countless phone calls -- to the Senate.

“There is a grassroots citizen revolt underway against this amnesty plan and the way this ‘back room’ deal was cut and then rushed to the Senate floor,” says Grassfire.org President Steve Elliott. “This the the largest response we have ever seen from the grassroots and indicates that a citizen revolt is brewing.”

This total represents only the number of petitions and faxes Grassfire can tabulate and does not include tens if not hundreds of thousands of phone calls. Elliott adds, “This represents just one of many organizations which are seeing similar responses. The Senate better listen or face further alienation from grassroots Americans.”
