On Eve Of Amnesty Vote, Three Old Ladies Ask Congress: “Where’s The Fence?”™
National “No Amnesty” TV Ad Campaign To Reach 15 Million People During This Week’s Amnesty Vote

PRESS RELEASE:

Maxwell, IA -- Grassfire.org, a leading grassroots voice opposing illegal immigration, today is announcing the start of a major national TV and Internet ad campaign called “Where’s The Fence?”™ that targets key senators in this week’s amnesty vote.

The campaign features three elderly ladies searching for (and not finding) the fence Congress pledged to build at the border. “Where’s The Fence?”™ launches today with an initial budget of over $175,000 and is expected to reach 15 million people in its first week. Click here to view the initial TV spot.

“We’re injecting a bit of humor into a very serious debate to express the deep-seated anger felt by millions of Americans toward the President and Congress about illegal immigration,” says Grassfire.org President Steve Elliott. “With the Senate voting this week to give amnesty to 12-20 million illegal aliens, grassroots Americans will be crying out in great frustration, ‘Where’s The Fence?’”

The campaign, more than two months in development, is being released this week as the Senate plans to pass its amnesty bill. The initial media buy includes national airings on Fox News and CNN along with regional broadcasts in seven states identified by Grassfire as key to this week’s amnesty vote: Arizona (Kyl and McCain), Georgia (Isakson and Chambliss), Kansas (Brownback), Mississippi (Lott), North Carolina (Burr), Texas (Cornyn and Hutchinson), and Virginia (Warner and Webb). A total of seven ads will be airing -- the national (generic) version along with six customized versions featuring key senators who have supported amnesty or have expressed support for this year’s amnesty bill.

Grassfire will also be asking its 1 million team members to help drive the message home with phone calls and faxes expressing the “Where’s The Fence?”™ outrage and demanding the Senate abandon its reckless amnesty agenda. Says Elliott, “The humorous nature of the ads, combined with the serious message have the potential to galvanize grassroots opposition to this bill as tens of thousands of citizens call the Senate and ask, ‘Where’s The Fence?’”™
