Chesapeake, VA—As the United States Senate begins debate today on a $1.2 trillion carbon tax bill, Grassfire.org is pleased to announce that it has shattered the 100 million pound mark of CO2 set to be released on "Carbon Belch Day", June 12.

“Carbon Belch Day” demonstrates that hundreds of thousands of Americans are rejecting Climate Alarmism and the carbon tax,” says Grassfire.org President Steve Elliott. “The ‘carbon footprint guilt’ being imposed on Americans for a host of normal activities such as driving our cars or mowing our lawns is nothing more than a set up for this tax scheme. If we feel guilty then we must accept the tax. We see through this manipulation and we reject it.”

"Carbon Belch Day" has received wide media coverage and has already exceeded Grassfire’s expectations. “Tens of thousands of citizens have utilized our calculator to measure their ‘carbon belch’ and help send a message to the Senate.

In addition, more than 140,000 people have signed our petition opposing the Lieberman-Warner Climate Security Act. “As the vote nears,” Elliott explains, “we will certainly mobilize the grassroots in opposition of this crippling tax.”
