Grassfire Rallies More Than 320,000 Citizens To Stand For Life And Against Partial-Birth AbortionPetitions delivered to Senate Majority Leader, Tom Daschle Urging Him to Take Immediate Action to Prohibit Partial-Birth Abortion.WASHINGTON, DC — Today in our nation’s capital, Grassfire delivered more than 320,000 petitions from concerned citizens who are standing for life and against the barbaric procedure known as partial-birth abortion. The petitions, gathered online through Grassfire’s national “Petition For Life” effort, represent all 50 states, and make a profound and compelling statement to our leaders in Washington, D.C., to once and for all ban partial-birth abortion. Our petition states: “As a concerned citizen, I am taking a stand for life, and calling on our nation’s leaders to press for a ban on partial-birth abortion.” “The ban on partial-birth abortion is necessary, and long overdue,” says Steve Elliott, President of Grassfire. “For more than eight years, Americans have had their hopes dashed time and time again.” But this time, he says, “With a pro-life President, we are hopeful that this bill will pass into law, and this horrific procedure will finally be put to rest.” The hope of this petition delivery is to motivate the Senate Majority Leader to take immediate action. “There is really only one month left to get this bill voted on,” says Elliott. Says. “If this bill isn’t voted on by the Senate within the next few weeks, we will have to start all over at the expense of thousands of more innocent babies!” Grassfire is one of the nation’s leading online grassroots citizen activist organizations, offering real impact, real feedback and real results to millions of people across the nation and around the world. |
