Grassfire Rallies Nearly 50,000 Citizens Calling On Tom Daschle To “Free the Fifty”

Petitions delivered to Senate Majority Leader, Tom Daschle
Urging Immediate Action on Dozens of Bills Awaiting Vote

WASHINGTON, DC — Today in our nation’s capital, Grassfire delivered nearly 50,000 petitions from concerned citizens who are standing demanding Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle free dozens of bills for vote.

Through these petitions, gathered online through Grassfire’s national “Free The Daschle 50” campaign, represent all 50 states, it is the hope of Grassfire that the Senate Majority Leader will be motivated to act on numerous bills before the legislative calendar runs out for this year.

Among the important pieces of legislation that stand to be lost are Homeland Security, important tax initiatives, child protection bills, and what many consider to be the most important of all—the bill to ban partial-birth abortion.

“While legislation to protect our children, and put more money into the pockets of American citizens are critical, the ban on partial-birth abortion is paramount,” says Steve Elliott, President of Grassfire. “For more than eight years, Americans have had their hopes dashed time and time again.” But this time, he says, “With a pro-life President, we are hopeful that this bill will pass into law, and this horrific procedure will finally be put to rest.”

With just days remaining before these bills will die, it is our hope that these petitions will demonstrate the will of the American people and their strong desire to see critical pieces of legislation voted on and passed into law.

Grassfire is one of the nation’s leading online grassroots citizen activist organizations, offering real impact, real feedback and real results to millions of people across the nation and around the world.
