Grassfire.org Launches Petition Calling On DNC and Democratic Candidates to Denounce MoveOn.org, Reject Funding

WASHINGTON DC ––  

In light of MoveOn.org’s recent posting of ads linking President Bush to Adolf Hitler, Grassfire.org today is launching a nationwide petition drive calling on Democratic leaders to publicly denounce MoveOn.org and reject all funding from its affiliated organizations.

“The Democratic leadership must immediately distance itself from MoveOn.org and this inexcusable tacit endorsement of ads linking President Bush to Adolf Hitler,” says Steve Elliott, President of Grassfire.org. “Nothing short of a public denouncement of MoveOn and the Hitler ads by the Democratic leadership will be acceptable.”

Grassfire.org is sending, by certified mail, letters to the Democratic National Committee and each of the major Democratic Presidential Candidates calling for denouncement of MoveOn and rejection of funds from MoveOn’s organizations. Grassfire is also rallying thousands of citizens online to sign a petition calling on Democratic leaders to denounce MoveOn. “Any candidate who wants to be President of the United States while accepting funds from an organization linking the current President to Adolph Hitler is undermining the very office he or she seeks,” says Elliott, who heads up an online network of 1.5 million citizens.

“MoveOn.org, by allowing these ads linking our President to perhaps the most evil leader in human history, has lost all credibility on this issue,” says Elliott. “It’s time for the leadership of the Democratic party to ‘move on’ from MoveOn.org, or accept open identification with MoveOn’s radical and dangerous agenda.”
