THOUSANDS WANT PRESIDENT REAGAN ON U.S. CURRENCY

Grassroots Efforts Rally Thousands in Favor of Putting Likeness of President Reagan on Ten Dollar Bill or Half-Dollar Coin

Washington, DC – Grassfire.org, an online conservative issues advocacy organization, has mobilized its supporters in an effort to support the commemoration of President Reagan’s legacy by putting his likeness on either the ten dollar bill or the half-dollar coin. Thus far, Grassfire.org has collected more than 50,000 petitions in favor of this action.

Currently, there are two bills before Congress that seek to honor President Reagan on U.S. currency. Introduced by Representative J.D. Hayworth (R-AZ), HR 4528 seeks to put Reagan’s likeness on the ten dollar bill. HR 4525, introduced by Representative Jeff Miller (R-FL), seeks to do the same on the half dollar coin.

Grassfire.org representatives will deliver the petitions in support of the legislation this week in Washington, D.C.

“Ronald Reagan was a strong, charismatic leader who was not only instrumental in breaking the back of Communism, he returned the luster to America and the American people,” said Steve Elliott, president of Grassfire.org. “What better way to honor the memory of a great leader than by putting his likeness on our money.”

In addition, Grassfire.org recently paid tribute to the passing of the former President by delivering to the Reagan family personal messages from supporters. The tens-of-thousands of personal tributes will be printed and bound for delivery to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.

Grassfire.org is an online grassroots organization that provides tools to individuals and organizations seeking to expand their impact on many of today's most important issues. By providing services to more than 1.5 million citizens and dozens of organizations, Grassfire.org is one of the largest online grassroots networks in the nation.
